Is Attio Right for You?
If your business doesn't fit a standard contacts, companies and deals setup, Attio lets you build the CRM around how you actually work. Custom objects, relationships and lists are the core of the product.
But if you want a sales pipeline that works on day one without making setup decisions, or you need marketing automation in the same tool, you'll feel the gaps quickly.
What it is: An AI-native CRM that builds records from your email and calendar, enriches them automatically, and lets you model anything you track. There are four plans: Free (up to 3 seats), Plus (up to 10 seats), Pro (no seat limit) and Enterprise. New workspaces start on a 14-day Pro trial.
⚠ Main limitation: Attio is a blank canvas. G2 reviewers keep saying you have to design your data model before it's useful, and that reporting is thinner than in older CRMs. Custom objects, sequences and call recording are all Pro features, so the plan you need depends on more than headcount.
✔ Get it if: You're a startup or B2B team with a data model that doesn't fit a template, you want AI built into the CRM rather than bolted on, you'd rather have records fill themselves from your inbox, or you're wiring the CRM into tools like Claude or ChatGPT.
Why Attio?
Attio's pitch is that the CRM should adapt to your business, not the other way round. Whether that's a strength or a chore depends on whether you've got someone willing to design the setup.
A Data Model You Shape Yourself
Every workspace starts with People and Companies. You can switch on standard objects for Deals, Users and Workspaces, and on Pro you can create your own custom objects, like Subscriptions, Investors or Partners, and link them with two-way relationships.
This is the thing reviewers praise most. One G2 reviewer, a marketing manager, put it simply: "Most CRMs force everything into a rigid contact/company/deal structure, and Attio just doesn't do that."
Records That Build Themselves
Connect your mailbox and calendar and Attio creates records for the people and companies you talk to. It then enriches them with a name, description, logo, location and social profiles on every plan. Plus adds employee count and ARR, and Pro adds funding raised.
It also tracks first and last interaction and connection strength for each record. That's a big part of why sales reps say they spend less time on data entry.
AI Inside the CRM
Ask Attio is a chat assistant that can search, update and create records in plain English. Workflows can include AI agent steps, and Attio's MCP server lets tools like Claude and ChatGPT read and write your CRM data. Several G2 reviewers say this is the reason they switched.
The catch is credits. Workflows and AI features draw on a monthly pool of workspace credits, and a couple of reviewers say automations used up their allowance faster than they expected.
What Sits on Which Plan
Attio's plans differ by limits and by features. Here's what changes as you move up, taken from Attio's own plan documentation:
Feature | Free | Plus | Pro | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Seats | Up to 3 | Up to 10 | No limit | No limit |
Records | 50,000 | 250,000 | 1 million | Custom |
Objects | People, Companies + 1 standard | People, Companies + 3 standard | Up to 12, incl. custom objects | Up to 12, incl. custom objects |
Email sequences | No | No | Yes | Yes |
Call recording | No | No | Yes | Yes |
Permissions | Everyone sees everything | Workspace-wide | Workspace, team and individual | Adds unlimited teams |
Reports | Up to 3 | Up to 20 | Up to 100 | Unlimited |
Workspace credits / month | 250 | 1,500 | 10,000 | Custom |
SSO and SCIM | No | No | No | Yes |
Plus suits a small team on headcount, but it doesn't include sequences, call recording or custom objects. Check which of those you'll need before you choose between Plus and Pro.
The Verdict: Our Assessment
8.0/10. Attio is the most flexible CRM in this category for teams that want to model their own business, and its AI features are built into the product rather than added on. It loses points on reporting depth, integration breadth and support, and the blank-canvas setup slows teams down in the first weeks.
Criteria | Score | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
Ease of Use | 8/10 | Clean, fast interface and G2's most-cited strength; the open-ended setup takes time to get right |
Customization | 9/10 | Custom objects and relationships can model almost any business |
AI & Automation | 8/10 | Ask Attio, agent steps and MCP are built in; workflows run on monthly credits |
Reporting | 6/10 | Covers the basics; reviewers export to spreadsheets for deeper analysis |
Integrations | 6/10 | App store, API and Zapier are available; missing native connections are G2's top complaint |
Customer Support | 6/10 | Chat and email on every plan, priority support on Pro; Capterra rates service 3.1/5 |
⚠ Trade-offs: You design the data model yourself before the CRM is useful. Custom objects, sequences and call recording are Pro-only. Reporting is lighter than HubSpot or Salesforce. Workflows and AI draw on monthly credits. SSO and SCIM are Enterprise-only.
✩ Best for: You're a seed-to-growth-stage startup (score: 9/10). You run deal flow at a VC or investment firm. You're a B2B sales team that wants records to fill themselves from email and calendar. You want your AI tools connected to live CRM data.
✗ Skip if: You want a ready-made pipeline on day one. You need email marketing, landing pages or nurture campaigns in your CRM. You rely on deep, customizable dashboards and forecasting. You need a large catalog of native integrations.
Fit by Business Type
We scored Attio across 11 business types. It does best where the data model is unusual and the team is comfortable setting things up, and worst where teams want an out-of-the-box sales or marketing machine.
Strong fit (8-9/10)
✔ SaaS and AI startups (9/10): fast to adopt, flexible as the go-to-market motion changes, and built to connect with AI tools.
✔ VC and investment firms (8/10): custom objects suit founders, portfolio companies and LPs, and connection strength helps with warm intros.
✔ Small B2B sales teams (8/10): automatic enrichment and activity syncing cut down on data entry.
Moderate fit (5-7/10)
◑ Agencies and consultancies (7/10): flexible enough to track clients and projects, but there are no industry templates and reporting is basic.
◑ Solo founders and freelancers (7/10): the Free plan is usable, but email sending and credits are tightly capped.
◑ Recruiting firms (6/10): custom objects can track candidates, though reviewers report calls don't always link to the right record.
◑ Mid-sized companies (6/10): Pro scales on seats, but permissions and reporting can feel light as teams grow.
Poor fit (2-4/10)
✗ High-volume calling teams (4/10): phone calls run through connected apps like RingCentral, and reviewers call dialer integrations a nuisance.
✗ Enterprises with strict governance (4/10): SSO and SCIM require Enterprise, and reviewers describe permissions as surface-level.
✗ Marketing-led teams (3/10): Attio has no landing pages or nurture campaigns, so you'll need a separate marketing tool.
✗ B2C and eCommerce (2/10): the product is built around B2B relationships, not high-volume consumer records.
What Users Say: Reviews & Verified Experiences
User ratings: 4.3/5 on G2 (594 reviews), 3.8/5 on Capterra (8 reviews), 3.2/5 on Trustpilot (5 reviews). G2 is the only large sample here. Many recent G2 reviews came through seller invitations with a small incentive, which G2 labels on each review, so read them with that in mind.
What Users Love

Common Complaints
✗ Steep Start: "The flexibility that makes Attio powerful also makes it the hardest CRM to onboard people onto," says Nick J. on G2. A steeper learning curve is one of G2's top recurring cons.
✗ Reporting: "It's frustrating to get clear, concise reporting," writes Ryan B., a software consultant, on G2 (July 2026), after struggling to build sales dashboards.
✗ Integrations: "I think the biggest weakness right now is the lack of integrations," says Sanat S., a CRM consultant, on G2 (April 2026). It's the most common complaint theme on G2.
✗ Credit Burn: "We have had to stop using them as it's currently taking all of our credits," a small-agency director writes about automations on G2 (April 2026).
✗ Imports and Support: "Can't upload contacts. No helpful errors," a Trustpilot reviewer wrote in January 2026. On Capterra, customer service is Attio's lowest-rated area at 3.1/5.
What Attio Users Typically Achieve
Less Time on Data Entry
Mailbox sync and enrichment mean records mostly fill themselves. Reps on G2 describe spending less time updating contacts and logging activity, and more time on actual conversations.
One Place for Every Relationship
Because you can model your own objects, teams pull investors, partners, candidates and customers into the same workspace instead of spreading them across spreadsheets. "Single source of truth" comes up again and again in reviews.
Faster Meeting Prep
With call recordings, emails and notes linked to each record, Ask Attio can summarize context before a call. Several reviewers say this is the feature they'd miss most.
Where You'll Hit Ceilings
Reporting is the first wall most teams hit. If you need forecasting or stakeholder-ready dashboards, expect to export to a spreadsheet or BI tool.
Integrations come next. Common tools like Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Zapier and Mailchimp are covered, but reviewers often fill gaps with Zapier, Make or the API. And if your CRM also needs to run marketing, you'll need another product.
What works: give one person ownership of the data model, plan your objects before you import anything, and keep an eye on workflow credit usage once automations go live.
3 Critical Mistakes to Avoid
Mistake #1: Syncing Mailboxes Before You Migrate
A team signs up, connects their inboxes to try Attio, and weeks later migrates from HubSpot. By then, mailbox sync has already created records for most of their contacts.
Attio's built-in migration tool runs on Import2, a third-party migration service. It creates new records rather than updating existing ones, so the team ends up with duplicates or missing field values that take days to clean up.
⚠ The Fix: Decide whether you're migrating before you connect mailboxes. Run Import2's sample migration first, check the field mappings, then run the full import. If you're coming from Salesforce, note that Cases don't migrate.
Mistake #2: Picking a Plan by Headcount Alone
A seven-person team chooses Plus because it covers up to 10 seats. A month later they want outbound sequences, call recording and a custom Investors object, and none of those are on Plus.
⚠ The Fix: Use the 14-day Pro trial to note which features you actually rely on. If you need custom objects, sequences, call recording or team-level permissions, you need Pro whatever your team size.
Mistake #3: Starting Without a Data Model
A startup imports everything into People and Companies and starts adding attributes as needs come up. A few months in, nobody agrees on which fields matter and the views are a mess.
G2 reviewers describe exactly this: rebuilding lists and views several times before they're useful, or not using the product for months because they didn't know how to set it up.
⚠ The Fix: Sketch your objects and relationships on paper first. Work through Attio Academy before inviting the team, and keep the first version small. It's easier to add objects later than to untangle a messy workspace.
Frequently asked questions
Does Attio have a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan covers up to three seats and 50,000 records. You get the People and Companies objects plus one more standard object (Deals, Users or Workspaces), automatic enrichment, one synced mailbox per member and 250 workspace credits a month for AI and workflows. There are no access permissions on Free, so everyone in the workspace can see and edit everything. New workspaces start with a 14-day trial of the Pro plan.
Which features are only on the Pro plan?
Custom objects, email sequences, call recording, formula attributes, teams with team-level and individual permissions, Time in stage and Historical values reports, priority support and the option to pay by invoice. Plus covers up to 10 seats, so a small team can fit on Plus by headcount and still need Pro for one of these features.
How does Attio's AI work, and what are credits?
Ask Attio lets you find, update and create records in plain English. Each seat gets a monthly allowance of seat credits for Ask Attio: 100 on Free, 500 on Plus, 1,000 on Pro and 2,500 on Enterprise. Workflows and other AI features draw on a shared pool of workspace credits: 250 a month on Free, 1,500 on Plus and 10,000 on Pro. Free workspaces can't buy more; paid plans can.
Can I migrate from HubSpot or Salesforce to Attio?
Yes. Workspace admins can run a migration from Workspace settings using Import2, the third-party migration service built into Attio, which supports HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Zendesk Sell and many others. From Salesforce it moves Contacts, Accounts, Leads and Opportunities, but not Cases. Workflows, reports and dashboards don't migrate, so plan to rebuild those.
Does Attio have a mobile app?
Yes, for iOS (iOS 26 or later) and Android (Android 13 or later). You can create and edit records and list entries, view emails and watch call recordings with transcripts. Reviewers say the mobile experience is less polished than desktop, and one Google Play reviewer notes reports aren't available in the app.
What kind of customer support does Attio offer?
Every plan gets the Help Center, Attio Academy, and chat and email support. Pro and Enterprise add priority support. Attio's plan documentation doesn't list phone support. On Capterra, customer service is Attio's lowest-rated category at 3.1/5, though the sample is only 8 reviews.
